![]() Hello Friends, We are spending every moment we can outdoors to enjoy this weather and all the wild flowers. We hope this note finds you happy and well. What I am writing about today is an update about Sybren, a special candidate forum for Chappell Hill and Washington, an exciting update about my school. Sybren started riding the Bike MS-150 in 2002. It all began when our daughter had been injured running cross country, and her doctor said she couldn't run, but she could ride a bike. So, she signed up for the MS-150 and since she was only 15 years old, Sybren decided he had to ride with her (to keep her safe). Ha ha ha. She finished thirty minutes before he did, but he has been hooked ever since. When we sold our business, Sybren bought Ready2Roll Cycling, the training series that 1000s of riders have depended upon for over 30 years to get in shape for the Texas MS-150. We work together. He organizes the routes, the police, the rest stops, and I help him organize the volunteers, the snacks, and supplies. Cycling season lasts from January to April. While Sybren is now in his 70th year, he is still riding and helping others to train. This training program serves mostly people over the age of 40. We have an average of 400 riders and volunteers each week. It is gratifying to hear them say that they are improving and feeling quite pleased with their progress. About 25% of our riders are doing the MS-150 for the first time. We have friends who have MS and of course, he rides for them, but also he rides because he loves cycling, and loves how it helps people, including me. Cycling is an activity that trains the body and soul and a beautiful way to enjoy the outdoors. Would you consider making a donation and helping Sybren reach his goal?
Support Sybren and Donate today! Click above and this link will take you to his fundraising page where you can make a donation. This is one cause where we have seen new drugs emerge that have slowed the disease. The Texas MS-150 is not just a long bike ride and a personal challenge, although it is these things. He is riding for a great cause. Thank you for considering supporting Sybren's ride. If you would like to send him a note, write at Sybren@Ready2RollCycling.com. ![]() |
![]() Friends, As a board member of Heritage Classical Academy, I am excited to share that enrollment is now open for kindergarten and first grade for Fall 2025! We finally have our forever home. We will be located in Houston on 34th Street near the YMCA in what used to be Lutheran High North Academy. The address is 1130 W. 34th Street. We also have our school leader. His first name is Gabriel. He looks very young for his age, but I can assure you he is very wise. He grew up in a family of 16 and studied classics at the University of Dallas. Serving on this board has been an incredible journey, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made in securing our campus, welcoming our founding head of school, and opening our doors to families seeking a tuition-free classical education rooted in wisdom and virtue. If you or someone you know is looking for an exceptional tuition free public charter school in Houston, I encourage you to learn more and enroll today: To learn more, visit Heritage Classical Academy. We will have an online meeting on Thursday, April 10 at 6:15 pm. Click here to register https://www.heritageed.org/enroll
Happenings on the Way to Heaven will be back on a weekly schedule in May. Kind regards,
Kathryn |
